TEGUISE MARKET

Every Sunday morning, the historic town of Teguise hosts an extensive market. This is the place to visit if you´re looking to pick up a few souvenirs or presents for friends back home.

There are stalls selling everything from leather goods, jewellery, toys, clothing and more. It´s also a great place to come if you want to pick up some organic fruit and veg, cakes and pastries or a local goats´ cheese.

The town is a beautiful spot for a gentle stroll, as it is one of the earliest towns to have been founded when the Spanish arrived in the Canaries in the fifteenth century. There are some interesting buildings to visit as well, including the church in the town square and a former merchant´s house which has been turned into the Timple Museum. The timple is the small Canarian guitar, an instrument unique to the islands.
