Luz y Hierro Exhibition Opens in Teguise
A joint exhibition featuring the work of Polish photographer Jacek Przybylowski and the French sculptor Mick Gonnel has just opened at the Convent of Santo Domingo in Teguise. Entitled 'Light and Iron' it showcases some of the latest works of both artists.
Mick Gonnel's work has striking similarities to some of the idiosyncratic pieces created by César Manrique, in that he has used scrap metal objects to form unusual sculptural forms. Amongst the items included in the exhibition are smoking birds, decorative monsters, fantastical insects and clumsy ballerinas, all made from recycled iron and metalwork.
Photographer Jacek Przybylowski has a studio in Nurnberger and has exhibited in Warsaw as well as previously in Lanzarote. His themes cover a wide range of subjects including 'the faces of Jazz' and 'Transformations'.
The exhibition is free to attend and runs until 4th September. The Convent of Santo Domingo is open between 10.00 and 13.00 and 17.00 and 20.00 Monday to Friday and between 10.00 and 13.00 on Saturday.
