Lanzarote plays host to a brace of free music festivals this month, both of which will be showcasing some of the island’s leading live performers.

The Costa Teguise Rock & Blues Festival

The Costa Teguise Rock and Blues Festival gets underway this coming weekend, running on Friday 17th and Saturday 18th of August and will be staged in the large car park next to the Pueblo Marinero on the Avenida Islas Canarias.

The event has been organised by Europa FM and will feature many of Lanzarote´s best known bands, such as Black Sheep, Afrika United, Elite and the Dieguito Bluesmen. The live music gets underway from 21.00 and runs through until 02.00, with admission free of charge.

2012 San Gines Rock Festival

The 2012 San Gines Rock Festival forms part of the annual Fiesta de San Gines celebrations and runs from three days from Monday 20th to Wednesday 22nd.

The event is being staged in the Carpa del Recinto Ferial in the island capital of Arrecife (opposite the Cabildo building) and the line up includes Ciempes ni Cabeza, Maldito Zurdo, Sobrelemarcha and Game Over on Monday 20th. Bazooka, Cadaver Depot and Blackened on Tuesday 22nd and Faktotum, the Skatoons and Kardomillo on Wednesday 23rd. Each gig gets underway at 22.00 and admission is free of charge.
