A new exhibition showcasing the work of the eminent Canarian art critic Eduardo Westerdahl opens at the Museum of International and Contemporary Art in Arrecife tomorrow, running through until September 15th.
Westerdahl was born in Santa Cruz de Tenerife in 1902 to a Spanish mother and a Swedish father and is best known for the creation of the eponymously titled gallery in Puerto del la Cruz, which features the works of many luminaries of the Spanish modern art world.
Something of a renaissance man, his creativity encompassed the world of letters, as he became the editor of the prestigious Gaceta del Arte during the 1930’s. Whilst simultaneously establishing himself as a major player in the Spanish surrealist movement, where he came into close contact with his Lanzarote born contemporary César Manrique.
The exhibition at MIAC is open to the public daily from 10.00 to 20.00, with admission costing €4 for adults and €2 for children aged under 12 years.
