Night At The Museum – MIAC Celebrates With Art and Gastronomy
MIAC, The Museum of International and Contemporary Art housed in the impressive edifice of the Castillo San Jose on the outskirts of Arrecife, will be celebrating International Museum Day with a feast for the senses tomorrow and Friday. As they raid their vaults to exhibit some of their lesser seen pieces as part of an open door event that`s free of charge for all, whilst also serving up a specially designed menu which can be enjoyed in the hugely atmospheric surroundings of their Manrique-designed basement restaurant.
The International Museum Day initiative first got underway in 1977 and has since mushroomed to encompass a wide raft of unique events organized by some 30,000 museums in 120 countries.
Here on Lanzarote MIAC will be opening especially after hours, from 20.00 to 01.00, with rarely seen works from eminent artists such as Manuel Rivera, Juan Ismael, Vicente Vela, Eduardo Úrculo, André Beaudin, Gastón Orellana and Xavier Valls on display in their temporary exhibition space.
Whilst in the kitchen MIAC´s chefs will be cooking up their special menu, which comprises a salad of langoustines in vapour, garnished with mango vinaigrette and jamon iberico chips. Followed by free range chicken supreme with baked stuffed courgette and a chocolate biscotti desert with vanilla ice cream.
