ART ATTACK Curtains Up On Bienal ArteLanzarote
The 8th edition of Bienal ArteLanzarote gets underway this month and runs through until March 2016. This multi discipline event encompasses a wide array of music, exhibitions, workshops and contemporary creations. And has been developed in association with the island’s Centres of Art and Tourism under the banner of 50 Years of Art and Nature in order to mark the opening of the Jameos del Agua back in 1964.
Event highlights include Museo Atlantico, an exhibition of underwater sculptures created by British artist Jason de Caires Taylor which is running now at the Museum of International and Contemporary Art in Arrecife. de Caires Taylor is the creative driving force behind the island’s first underwater sculpture museum which is scheduled to open in January 2017 just off the coast of Playa Blanca.
Whilst musically top billing goes to British DJ and producer D WattsRiot, a key figure in the multi cultural hip-hop techno outfit Fun Da Mental. Who will be appearing at the Jameos del Agua on December 4th as part of an eclectic bill that’s designed to exploit the full sonic possibilities of this amazing venue.
