The renowned operatic soprano Barbara Hendricks will be performing live this coming, Saturday November 25th, at the Jameos del Agua as part of a special one off gala event.

Arkansas born Hendricks studied at the Julliard School of Music in New York before making her first entrance onto the world stage in 1974 at the Glyndebourne Festival in the UK.

Over the years she has appeared in most of the world most prestigious auditoriums whilst also appearing in feature films such as La Boheme and successfully carving out an alternative niche as an impressive jazz vocalist, kick-started by an appearance at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1994.

This coming Saturday at the Jameos Hendricks will be performing her spiritual, gospel show The Road To Freedom, which tells the story of black America from slavery through to the civil rights movement and the end of segregation, accompanied by Ulf Englund on guitar, and Matthias Algotsson on piano.

The event gets underway at 20.00 and tickets are limited to just 500 people, priced at €49 - which includes a la carte dining - available direct online from the Centres of Art, Culture and Tourism website.
