1. Climate
The Canaries were once known as the Fortunate Islands because of their enviable climate. This still holds true today.
Lanzarote lies just off the coast of North West Africa. As a result the island enjoys an average year round temperature of 21c. Even in winter, holidaymakers can bask on the beach. There are no wet seasons to avoid and rainfall is minimal.

2. Beaches
Lanzarote boasts some of the most beautiful beaches in the Canaries. Over 90 in total. Contrary to popular misconception the vast majority have golden rather than black sand.
All of the main tourist resorts have excellent, family friendly Blue Flag beaches with plenty of facilities.

3. Volcanoes
The landscape on Lanzarote is truly unique. There is no other place in the world quite like it.
One third of the island was buried under lava during the worlds longest ever volcanic eruption in the 1730‘s. Now, around 300 volcanoes inhabit the island. (don‘t worry — they are all dormant).
This seismic activity has created a raw landscape that is often likened to the surface of the moon.
Holidaymakers can view the Fire Mountains and their effects at close quarters by visiting The Timanfaya National Park, Lanzarote‘s leading tourist attraction.

For a small island Lanzarote is big on attractions. Thanks to island born artist and architect César Manrique Lanzarote boasts a host of unique cultural attractions, such as the incredible Jameos del Agua.
Alternatively you can explore the islands natural wonders or visit picturesque, whitewashed villages, such as Teguise and Haria.
Explore museums. Experience the atmosphere of the islands markets.
The islands small scale makes sightseeing easy and manageable. Car hire and petrol are extremely good value too.

5. Value For Money
Tourist accommodation on Lanzarote is of a very high standard. The Cabildo (island government) stipulates that all new developments must be four star or above in terms of quality and service.
This means that there is a wide range of excellent hotels and apartments to choose from, especially in the three main tourist resorts. At reasonable prices too.
